Description Notes

Black-painted circular cast iron plate with 3 feet shod with cork. Circular plate mounted on base plate with 2 curving supports for knife. Feed lever mounted on two supports with knife edges with far-end supported on feed screw; height of feed screw is adjusted by crank handle moving against steel ratchet wheel, carrying scale divided 0 - [35] numbered by 10 subdivided to 1 (where 1 division = 0.001mm). Swinging arm which carries specimen mount is mounted on knife edges set on one of the supports for feed lever. The swinging arm rotates horizontally as the crank handle is moved and at the same time is raised up the knife edges by the motion of the feed lever.

Condition good (some rusting to feed srew plate); incomplete
