Self-recording auxanometer for monitoring plant growth, by the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company, 1892.

Cast iron base, painted blue, with 2 levelling screws. Vertical spindle carries brass drum with knurled knob and bubble level above. Black-painted wooden platform carries electric clock movement (adapted from mechanical) with brass linkage to drum. Brass weight. Electric lead and plug.

An auxanometer is an instrument for measuring the growth rate of plants.
