Description Notes

Mahogany box containing blue-painted steel horseshoe magnet. Brass framework for two arbors: one, rotated by a crank and turned wooden handle, carries a cog wheel, the other a pinion and pulley wheel with a plastic drive loop to an axle carrying two velvet-covered coils, which rotate close to the poles of the magnet. Two cord-covered wires lead to turned hardwood handles and cylindrical brass terminals. Knurled screw on side of box leads to gear system on underside of lid which moves index arm on circular glazed scale set on lid of box; this scale is divided [0] - 100, numbered by 10, subdivided to 1.

Condition good; complete.
