Mahogany base with ivory maker’s plate. Turned mahogany standards supporting brass, wood and steel axle for glass cylinder; each end of the cylinder coated with the remains of red paint and reducing down to fit wooden cylindrical ferrules. On the outer side of one standard is mounted a turned wooden wheel with turning handle and three pulley grooves, linked by string drive to smaller turned wheel at the end of the axle with three corresponding grooves. The wheel is warped, so it doesn't turn (21/11/2025). Leather friction pad with wood mount, brass knob and chain, on wood and glass adjustable stand with black silk draped over the cylinder. Separate prime conductor missing.
