Description Notes

Circular oxidised brass base plate set on three brass legs. Surmounted by two further plates, both brass, the lower one of which carries a degree scale divided in both directions 0 - 360˚, numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 10´, with vernier reading to 10´´; clamp and tangent screw for adjustment of circle. The three plates are divided by cylindrical metal sections and the whole of the centre of the instrument is hollow. There are two screws between the lower two plates for making longitudinal and lateral adjustments. A hinged glass plate is mounted on the top of the uppermost plate with a white plastic stage beneath, on which the plate being measured is set.

Condition fair; complete.
