Description Notes

Spectrometer, by John Browning, English, c. 1890.

Similar to Wh: 2592 but adapted as spectrometer and with pillar stand. Slit with brass jaws, width adjusted by screw, head divided 0-10, reflecting prism on pivoted arm. Brass collimeter screws into brass barrel with rotatable telescope on other end with clamping screw. Divided arc (0-100 by 1) at end of brass support mounted on barrel. Screw moves telescope against spring. Reading glass and vernier on telescope. One draw tube, screw-in eyepiece. Spare eyepiece tube and eyepiece, pillar stand (no base), oil lamp, and two other pieces in fitted wooden box.
