Description Notes

Mahogany table with set of drawers mounted beneath the top. Pivoted crossing bar near base between back legs; attached to this is a wooden treadle with a black-painted cast iron hook which moves the drive wheel. This is a black-painted cast iron wheel with drive shaft coming out of centre. Along the front of the top of the table is a grooved steel plate which carries a support for the tools of the lathe; the support can move along the length of the groove.
Many steel, brass and wooden fittings (some in the drawers beneath the instrument) include cog wheels, cranks, pulley wheels, bits, files, spanners, etc. Much of the brass is highly decorated.
