Sinclair ZX81, c.1982
Small black plastic computer console with flat touch sensitive keyboard. Comes with 4 books entitled “ZX81 BASIC programming”, “ZX81 User’s Handbook”, “The Art of Programming the 16K ZX81” and “The Art of Programming the 1K ZX81”. Also has 5 cassette programmes - “Fun To Learn Inventions”, “Fun to Learn History”, “Fun to Learn Geography”, “Sinclair ZX81 Fantasy Games” and “Chess”, there is also an empty cassette box in a plastic sleeve with description card for the games “Space Invaders” and “Space Rescue” (the cassette was not present at accession).
The computer comes with a plug-in 16K RAM adaptor which attatches to the back of the main unit, and comes with all its cables and connector leads.

Description
The zx81 was one of the first home computers available on the high street, and the first affordable model available in the uk.
In 1981 its design, which was arrived at largely by eliminating non-essential features in order to keep the cost down, won a British Design Council Award.
