Description Notes

Medicago sativa and trifolium trapense. Maker G. Henslow.

Colour printed botanical teaching diagram of Medicago sativa (also known as Spanish Clover and Alfafa) and Trifolium pratense (red clover). The wallchart consists of 12 diagrams relating to these two species, a - f referring to Medicago sativa and g - m (omitting J) referring to the red clover. Figure a shows the entire plant of the Medicago sativa with b and c showing parts of the flowers of that plant. Figure e shows the seed and f a cross section through that seed. Figure d is perhpas the seed pod (?).

Figure g shows the whole red clover plant with h, i and k as cross sections through the flowers. Figures l and m show the seeds of the red clover.

The chart has suffered some damage and has been repaired badly using cellotape at some point. The title Trifolium pratense has been changed was probably originally another trifolium species as the word pratense has been painted on to another piece of paper and pasted over the original.

Fair condition.
