Description Notes

Botanical wallchart showing Papilionaceous flower of the vetch genus Vicia (Leguminosae, subfamily Papilionatae).
Two diagrams, both in colour.
Inscriptions are stencilled at top right and across bottom. Initial letters of lower inscription are underlined in red to provide key: left hand diagram is labelled ‘s’ (standard), ‘w’ (wings) and ‘k’ (keel).
Reference numbers at bottom left and right corners. (Previous PS ref. was S36)
(NB: “papilionaceous” means having a corolla characteristic a pea. The modern term would be zygomorphic.)
