Description Notes
Rectangular mahogany base with drawer set into it; drawer contains 6 black plastic squares with pieces of coloured card stuck to both sides - one side has small piece, the other has a larger piece - in blue, orange, red (2 types), yellow and green; also 2 drawing pins, a bulldog clip, and a metal rod. Two black-painted white metal standards mounted on base. On one standard is set a brass arc divided 0 - 90˚, numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 5˚. This arc rotates with a mahogany wheel, which carries a iron counterweight (to balance the arc). The wheel also has a central brass disc and 3 guides for holding a chart (the wheel is heavily pitted, where pins have pin used to hold charts in place). A metal arm from the standard supports, in the middle of the disc, a metal scale divided 0 - 90 numbered by 10. The arc can be fixed in position, using a knurled brass screw. The other standard carries a waved black metal plate (for resting the patient’s chin) which can be adjusted vertically by means of a knurled brass clamping screw. In front of this is a vertical black-painted brass rod, with a white-painted tip.
Wooden box with brass hinges and lock, steel key.
