Description Notes

Ivory rule; flat on one side; upper bevelled edges; one edge marked ‘20’, divided in both directions [0] - 20, numbered by 1, subdivided to 0.1 (for 1/20 inch). The other edge is marked ‘feet’, divided in both directions [0] - 1300, numbered by 1[00], subdivided to 10 (where half-inch = 66 feet (1 chain)).
Reverse: scales probably a later addition. One edge marked ‘25’, divided in both directions [0] - 20, numbered by 1, subdivided to 0.1 (for 1/25 inch); other edge marked ‘feet’, divided [0] - 1300, numbered by 1[00], subdivided to 10.

Condition fair (chips in one edge and some discolouration); complete.
