Description Notes

Large poster, showing a man on horseback as an example of the photos to see through Paul’s animatograph. Possibly this instrument was similar to Paul’s ‘Theatrograph’, a kind of projector adaptable to any lantern. The first public demonstration of this machine was in 2-1896. He developed his interest in cinematography alongside his work in specialist scientific instruments with his New Southgate Instrument Making Co., but by 1910 he had become disillusioned with the showbusiness side and he returned to making specialist instruments. The amalgamation with C.S.I. came in 1919.

Complete.
