Description Notes

Hilger wavelength spectrometer, constant deviation type. Slit with steel jaws, width adjustable by screw (moving against spring) with circle divided 0-100 by 1. Brass collimator in 2 parts (slit on draw tube) slit end screws into brass tube held by two clamps with knurled screws. Prism on part-oxidised brass platform, held by arm with clamping screw, removable oxidised brass cover with two aperture holes. Brass telescope in two parts, objective end held by two clamps with knurled screws, the rest screws into this. Focus by rack and pinion moved by double knurled screw. Screw-in eye end has 2 sliding aperture stops, reference spike clamped by 2 screws and illuminated by mirror. Eyepiece on draw tube with screw-in lens. Stage rotated by screw with white metal alloy drum marked with wavelength of light being observed. Painted cast iron suport with pillar and tripod stand.
