Description Notes

Square ivorine plate with central circular rotatable section.
Obverse: scale of inches along one edge, divided 0 - 4, numbered by 1, subdivided to 1/16. Opposite edge has scale of centimetres, divided 0 - 10, numbered by 1, subdivided to 0.1. Third edge has scale of ‘degrees at 23 ins. radius’, divided 0 - 10, numbered by 1. Last edge has map scale for 1:20000, divided 0 - 2000 yards, numbered by 500, subdivided to 50. Circular log scale around central disc divided 100 - 20000, numbered 100, 200...1000, 2000...15000, 20000. Central disc has two log scales, one in red and one in black; black scale divided [5] - 5000, numbered 10, 15, 20, 30...100, 200...1000, 2000...5000; red scale for ‘metres’, divided 1 - 100, numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30...100. Three brass studs for moving inner disc.
Reverse: circular log scale around central disc divided 4´ - 90˚ and back to 175˚ (at 5˚), numbered 4´, 5´...10´, 15´...30´, 40´, 50´, 1˚, 1˚ 30´, 2˚, 3˚...10˚, 12˚...20˚, 30˚...70˚, 90˚, 110˚, 120˚...140˚, 145˚...175˚. Central disc has log scale divided 1´- 90˚ and numbered 1´, 2´, 3´ and then as previous scale (but no markings above 90˚).
Leather pouch case with press stud fastener in brass and plastic.

Condition good (case fair); complete.
