Polishing Kit PK-01. 20th Century. Maker Research and Industrial Instruments Company, England.
The polishing kit is contained in a purpose built wooden box with internal compartments to hold the various components in place. There are two plastic bottles. The one with a white lid contains chalk, the one with a black lid contains an alcohol based liquid. At their side is a synthetic sponge stained with red dye in places. The polishing parts consist of two seperate wooden blocks each containing a glass plate. Wrapped around one glass plate is a cotton cloth held in place with a metal stretcher device. The chalk is applied to this cloth. There is a third smaller piece of glass in the box.
