Panphot Photomicrographic Apparatus, known with other names such as Camera Microscope, Camera Microprojector with accessories. Maker Leitz, second half of 20th century. This object could be disassembled and reassembled with different fittings to carry out work in Mineralogy, Biology and Metallurgy.
The accessories that have come with the Panphot Photomicrographic Apparatus are those used at OCÈ UK Limited. They include attachments for changing the primary use of the instrument from polarising microscope to photographic apparatus. Photographic accessories including a darkslide holding frame, Polaroid land instrument camera model ED-10 and a Kodak lens attachment size No 370. Books and pamphlets include: Panphot Instruction book, exercise book containing photographic data, Ozalid Company Ltd Negative Register and a Handbook of Photomicrography, Hind and Randles, Published by Routledge, 1913. Filters such as Kodak Wratten Gelatin Filter 75mmx75mm variable colours. Miscellaneous items such as a Panphot base mirror, two Projection Prism by Leitz in purpose made boxes, wax and various shapes and sizes of glass. Objectives and lenses. Slides and slide accessories. Description
The camera microscope is an instrument used to photograph microscopic preparations. The basic unit can be adapted by the addition of external fittings into an instrument suited for work in the fields of biology, metallurgy and mineralogy. This particular instrument was presented with attachments used for commercial examination of fabric fibres.
