Description Notes

Botanical teaching model of Dryopteris filix-mas by Osterloh, German, late 19th early 20th Century.

Plain wooden stand with a column to support the plant model. Wooden stem is imbedded in plant leaf A. Succulent type plant showing rooting system. Construction appears to be paper core covered with plaster. At the back of leaf A is a detachable leaf B labelled by the model makers 15B. Through the use of a metal prong it is attached to the main leaf and stem. Some plaster has been lost and the paper core repainted green to match the rest of the plant. On the base is a label with the above inscription.
