Description Notes
Botanical teaching model, Linaria (toadflax) [formerly recorded as Apis mellifica - see notes], maker unknown, possibly late 19th early 20th century.
The circular base is made of wood. Fixed into it probably by nut and bolt system is the stem of the flower. A paper label with 116 or 11G is found two thirds of the way up the stem. The flower separates into two pieces. Brass hooks and eyes as well as a curved rod hold the pieces together. When separated the stamen etc are exposed. The two halves of the flower are formed in continuous pieces of card with a plaster layer and then painted surface. The flower is yellow in colour.
