Description Notes

hemispheres from boit’s apparatus that forms part of an electrostatic set accompanying the Van de Graaf genrator Wh5748. 20th Century. To show that electrical field does not penetrate the surfaces of the conductors which form its boundaries. Two large brass hemispheres fitted with insulating handles of ebonite. To complete the boits apparatus there would have also been an insulated metal sphere with a hole at the top for a proof plane (this was not with the set).
