“Malvern” electrostatic set consisting of gold leaf electroscope; cloth; three plastic rectangles of varying thicknesses; two plastic rods with metal discs at one end, one shorter with disc of the same diameter as that on the electroscope, the other longer with a small copper (?) disc screwed into end; metal ‘hook’; two metal cylindrical containers; four polystyrene balls, coloured silver; two perspex square sheets; black plastic reel; one stirrup, bent wire.
Electroscope comprises a wooden box, with front and back removable glass. Felt strips across front and back of lid. The sides of the case are lined on the inside with strips of metal. A hole in the top of the box is surrounded by plug of plastic. Into this fit a metal rod with metal disc on top. This rod, when in position, touches another metal rod, from which a metal plate and single gold leaf are suspended inside the box. Inside the box a scale is fixed to the right hand wall. It is divided 0-90, marked 0, 20, 40, 60, and 90, subdivided to 10. Terminal (?) on right hand side of the outside of the box.
