Description Notes

5817.1 19th century pine slide box containing six trays, each fitted with six slides, with twelve Roslin microphotographs, three with labels by J.H. Steward. Subjects include No.80 The Bath, a Sanitary operation, Not Caught Yet, The Expected Penny and Cupboard Love. A collection of twenty three microphotographs with labels inscribed A Photographic Curiosity For The Microscope, each initialled J.S., subjects include a diagram of the moon as shown by Lord Ross's great telescope, British Troops landing in China, and portraits of eminent Scots; one slide is absent.

5817.2: 19th century mahogany slide box containing 71 slides by Watson, Souter, Norman, Enock and other preparers arranged in 12 trays designed to hold 6 slides per tray. Subjects include entomology and marine zoology, five anatomy slides showing dissected insects. The case has one brass hook and eye to hold it closed, the front drops down to allow the easy removal of the trays. 82 parts in total.
