microscope slide: Abbe test plate by Zeiss, German late 19th C
This example has six circular areas with ruled silver strips, bearing cover glasses of 0.09, 0.12, 0.15, 0.18, 0.21 and 0.24 mm thickness. It is designed for testing the performance of microscope objectives. In original brown leather case with blue velvet trimming. Case marked with gold embossed lettering signed “Testplatte Nach Abbe, C. Zeiss, Jena.”
