Description Notes
Magdeburg hemispheres, possibly American, mid 19th Century.
The 100mm diameter brass hemispheres connect with shaped rims and are fitted with a rectangular keyed stopcock and two large ovular shaped brass handles. When evacuated of air, they will be pressed together by the external air with a force of 190 pounds, making it exceedingly difficult to pull them apart.
Condition fair.
