Description Notes
Push fit eyepiece in aluminium, with smaller push fit eye lens inscribed with the Watson logo and “X 6” (this is the only value eye lens extant). The eyepiece is dissected by an aluminium box which contains a serrated micrometer, the box carries the Watson inscription.
This micrometer is of an unusual type, as it carries no markings. The distance of the serrations is irrelevant and measurements are made possible by the fact that they are equidistant. For non-comparitive measurments a stage micrometer would be needed.
Fine focus is achieved by adjusting a wheel numbered “0” to “90” in increments of 10, this is turned by a large knurled wheel and there is an indicating pointer in enamelled metal on the box. Underneath the box is attached a clamp for securing the eyepiece to the microscope, this is tightened by a knurled screw. Contained in a velvet lined box (probably wood, lined with cloth) which has a gold embossed Watson logo on the lid.
