Description Notes
Caricature postcard entitled “The Descent of Man” featuring a cartoon of Charles Darwin. Full colour front of postcard showing a man with white hair, black tail-jacket, white bow-tie, green trousers and red slippers sliding down a bannister with severe looking woman at the bottom wearing grey dress with white lace cuffs. ‘wont he bump’ is written on in black ink in the same handwriting as is on the reverse of the card.
The reverse of the card is written on in handwriting with the inscription as stated above. The handwriting of ‘Twichenham Road’ is smudged and to a lesser extent some of the handwriting in the ‘Dear Uncle John’ half of the postcard is also smudged. Postmarked 16 May 1904.
Condition good.
