Aneroid altimeter used for surveying by Cooke, Troughton & Simms Ltd., London & York; first half 20th C
Oxidised brass body with brass carrying loop at the top. Aluminium dial with bevelled edged glass front and metal pointer. Inscribed on dial 'COMPENSATED FOR TEMPERATURE, No 532, COOKE, TROUGHTON & SIMMS LTD, LONDON & YORK’. Scales in feet and inches running in opposite directions. 'Feet' scale from 0-8000 in 20ft divisions. 'Inches' scale from 23-31 in 1/50th divisions. Fixed pointer at 1190ft.
With fitted leather case, lined with dark red velvet
Condition good; case condition good/fair, some wear and scratches on the leather and velvet; complete
