Description Notes

Field hand lens x20 magnification in leather case, by Asahi Opitcal Co.; mid 20th century (see notes).

The lens is held in a stainless steel cylinder. There is a screw thread above the lens and the cylinder has perforations as if it would unscrew, but it appears not to. The lens can be swung around to fit inside two plates with the inscriptions on them. The obverse inscription also contains the AOC logo, with AOC fitted into a circle that overlaps a triangle.

The leather case is held together with string stitching, that has been reinforced by four staples. It opens and fastens with a pop-button. The case shows much wear and use.
