Level; made or adapted by Brian Harland; 20th century

Level in wooden box with linen outer bag, presumed to be an instrument made or customised by Brian Harland.

Steel base plate painted black. Two bubbles mounted perpendicularly onto base plate. One fixed foot and two adjustable foot screws through base plate, labelled A and B. Sight takes the form of a vertical hair with a plastic vertical guide marker mounted on an aluminium plate on the opposite side.

Box has brass screw through base to hold instrument in place.

Condition fair; accretions to surface, paint is flaking on sides, plastic guide marker detached.
