6-inch ‘Kinderglobus’ terrestrial globe for children, with indigenous animal species shown on various countries, by Stellanova, German, early 21st century.

In box, with accompanying booklet on the animals featured on the globe.

Globe is plastic body with printed paper applied to outside. Plastic stand with steel base, foam feet.

Continents and major countries labelled (in German) and overlaid with images of major animal species indigenous to those countries.

Accompanying book (in German) provides more detail on the animals featured.

Description
During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, terrestrial globes were increasingly used in classrooms or in other sort of educational settings as a teaching aid for geography. This globe was designed as an educational toy for children. The cartography shows various types of animal indigenous to different parts of the world, and an accompanying book provides more detail on the animals featured.
