Calculator kit used/issued by the Open University with accompanying booklets relating to the ‘Microprocessors and Product Development’ course. c. 1970.
Circuit board (main device) comprises two sets of four, and one set of two LCD displays, a capacitor, ten small red, green and yellow LCDs, a series of conductors and a two sets of buttons for inputting data into the calculator. The base of the board is protected by rubber feet.
The device comes with its own power pack; main wire has been taped down against front of power pack.
The original cardboard box is fitted with polystyrene (removed for preventative conservation reasons) and comes with original aluminium foil sachet of desiccant (empty). The sachet is mounted on card and enclosed in a plastic bag (bag has been removed and replaced with a melinex sleeve).

This calculator kit was issued by the Open University for use in their ‘Microprocessors and Product Development’ course in the 1970s, accompanied by eight course booklets on topics such as ‘Designing Products Incorporating a Microprocessor’.
