Description Notes
Hand surveying magnetic compass, by Suunto of Helsinki, Finland, c.1970.
The compass has a round face on the front within which are two dials (one inside the other) showing direction and degrees. On top of the face sits a rectangular plastic magnifier. The compass is designed to be held flat and the degrees read by looking through the magnifier on the top.
On the reverse of the compass is a inset circular plate containing a table showing conversions between degrees and radians.
A brass ring on the bottom right hand corner of the compass holds a length of thin yellow synthetic twine for carrying etc.
The case is made from synthetic material and is of a simple ‘pocket’ design with popper fastening.
Condition: good / complete [sticker on front is beginning to peel off]
