20-inch plastic topographical (relief) globe of the planet Mars, by Raco Astro, U.S.A., 1978.
Large, hollow, single piece plastic topographical globe, showing surface terrain of Mars in relief. Surface colour is depicted in various shades of orange and red, with both poles in white. The cartography is not labelled. The globe was purchased without a stand.
The surface terrain shown is based on the results of the NASA Viking Program, which sent two missions to Mars in 1975 containing Orbiter and Lander vehicles. These continued to send back images and data about the Martian surface until 1982.

Description
This large globe is a single piece of formed plastic that shows the topography of Mars in relief. Its surface colour is depicted in various shades of orange and red, with both poles in white. The areography—the study of the physical features of Mars—remains unlabelled. The surface terrain shown is based on the results of the NASA Viking Program, which sent two missions to Mars in 1975 that contained the Orbiter and Lander vehicles. These unmanned missions continued to send back images and data about the Martian surface until 1982.
