Description
These organ pipes would be used to provide pure sounds which could be made visual using a manometric flame apparatus. A rubber diaphragm turns the standing wave in the pipe into a modulating air supply which in turn makes a flame vibrate at the frequency of the sound. By using two pipes at once, the relative frequencies of the two sounds can be compared. The largest pipe has three outputs and can be used to show the relative strength of the standing wave at different points along the pipe.
