Wind chest for blowing organ pipes, by Rudolph Koenig, French, late 19th century.

Wooden chest set on metal base with legs. Two brass air inlet pipes on one side. Two handles on the opposite side that can be pulled out to adjust air flow. Two air outlet holes on the top.

Description
Rudolph Koenig was perhaps the most important maker of acoustical experimental apparatus in the late 19th century. He is famed for his high-quality tuning forks, among other instruments. This wind chest was used to sound organ pipes singly or in pairs.
