Description
These hand-made cards, entitled ‘The Elements of Astronomy and Geography Explained’, depict many principles of astronomy and the spherical geometry of the Earth. Intended as an education aid for children, Mary Morris, the set’s maker, appears to have meticulously copied the cards from a 42-card set produced by Louis-Michel Pâris in Paris and subsequently published in English in 1795 by John Wallis of London.
