Development of the chick (Gallus ), no. 3.
Wax model of Gallus embryo. Number 3 of a series of 23 models showing the development of the chick embryo. Depicts His stage 5, age 2 days.
The model is mounted in a gold and black wood frame, held by metal pins, on a black painted, numbered wooden base.
Scale: 40 x linear magnification.
Originals modelled by His.Wilhelm in collaboration with Ziegler.Adolf.

Condition: fair (few cracks); complete.

Description
This is the first series Adolf Ziegler reproduced from models based on drawings of serial sections. It sold well because the models were accurate and clear, and the chick was widely used for teaching embryology.
