Development of the chick (Gallus ), no. 10.
Wax model of Gallus embryo. Number 10 of a series of 23 models showing the development of the chick embryo. Depicts His stage 8, age 3 days.
The model is mounted on metal on a black painted, numbered wood base, which has felt on the bottom.
Scale: 40 x linear magnification.
Originals modelled by His.Wilhelm in collaboration with Ziegler.Adolf.
Condition: fair (cracks); complete.

Description
In each pair of models of third-day and fourth-day embryos, the second model shows a wax ‘dissection’ that lets us see inside. This was a big advantage of sectioning followed by reconstruction in wax.
