Description
Astrologer’s globes are a style of globe that is relatively recent in the history of Indian globe-making. They were intended as astrological compendia or aides-mémoire in contrast to traditional celestial globes that operated as models of the heavens. This brass celestial globe is studded with silver stars and enameled with Arabic script. There are two graduated bands: a pseudo-equatorial and a pseudo-ecliptic at approximately 45°.  The stand is a graduated horizon ring supported on four graduated quadrants and is lined with a brass frame wrapped with narrow strips of cotton cloth.
