Description Notes

Oertling chemical balance, model 52 G.B., English, 1960s

Oertling model 52 G.B. electronic chemical balance, serial no. 37480, in polished wooden case. Front window can be slid up and held open, and side windows open on hinges and can be locked into place when shut. Two brass levelling screws; arrestment knob on left side. Beam, pillar, plumb in brass, pointer in glass. Pans have brass wires and hooks and steel? pans, and have ‘R’ or ‘L’ written underneath in pen. Card has been placed between the centre knife and the beam. Seems as if weight can be read by system of mirrors, appearing at the centre top of the front window. Attachment at the rear seems to be a lightbulb encased in metal, to provide illumination for the reading when plugged into the mains.

Model no. has been obtained from Balance Maintenance Service card (see OHF).

Seems to be in working order, Anita McConnell having had it repaired in March 2007. Includes the mains adapter, although the component is rather rusty.

Condition: Good; complete.
