Set of three Warburg Manometers with three flasks, by Exelo, English, 2/2 C20th.

Set of three Warburg manometers with three flasks, English, mid to late- twentieth century. Flasks and manometers, used for pressure measurement or respirometry experiments to measure uptake of oxygen. Typically, 12 manometers and flasks were set up in one bath, resulting in 12 respirometer readings; these three sets would have provided for one quarter of an experiment.

6577.1: Warburg manometer, measuring 30ml total (15ml positive, 15ml negative) at 10 degree intervals. Some discolouration to metal tap and metal at back, and plastic around it is quite dirty. Glass stopper at top is dirty. Rubber tubing is dry and cracking slightly, particularly where under pressure.

Condition: good, complete.

6577.2: Warburg manometer, measuring 30ml total (15ml positive, 15ml negative) at 10 degree intervals. Rubber tubing has broken away from the U-shaped tube, is cracked and beginning to disintegrate in places. Bottom of plastic mount dirty and metal fixture with plastic stopper is discoloured, as is the metal fixture on the back.

Condition: good/fair, complete.

6577.3: Warburg manometer, measuring 30ml total (15ml positive, 15ml negative) at 10 degree intervals. Rubber tubing has broken away from the U-shaped tube, is crackin quite severely and beginning to disintegrate in places. Bottom of plastic mount dirty and metal fixture with plastic stopper is discoloured, as is the metal fixture on the back.

Condition: fair/poor, complete.

6577.4: Warburg flask with stopper in box. Box discoloured. Some dirt on interior of flask. Exelo logo is faded.

Condition: good, complete.

6577.5: Warburg flask with stopper in box. Box discoloured. Some dirt on interior of flask.

Condition: good, complete.

6577.6: Warburg flask with stopper in box. Box discoloured. Some dirt on interior of flask. Exelo logo is very faded.

Condition: good, complete.
