Description Notes
Portable potentiometer, by Pye, English, mid C20th.
Portable potentiometer, Pye, English, mid-twentieth century. Model no. 7569/P. Previously used by Cambridge University Metallurgy Department. Has plug for external galvanomter in the body and converter(?) in the lid which fits. Powered by 2 D batteries (removed), stored compartment on bottom left of exterior of the case, from which the battery holder can be extracted. Two sheets of paper stuck on the interior of the lid, obscuring the instructions and circuit, although these are only fixed with sellotape at the top and can be lifted up to reveal the metal panel beneath. They were previously fixed at the bottom too, but have peeled away. The sellotape marks remain on the metal below. Two sheets detail information regarding thermocouples. Four feet on bottom of large side of the case, box has metal clasps to shut and a plastic handle to carry.
Has some white marks (paint?) on exterior of the box, and is missing a grate which should cover a whole in the back of the case. Paper inside is dirty and labels reading ‘CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY METALLURGY DEPARTMENT. CLASS.’ are scratched. Has four holes with circular marks around them indicated 4 fixtures have been removed (perhaps feet?)
Condition: good, complete.
