Description Notes

Botanist’s field set, satchel containing field equipment, English, 2/2 C20th.

6585.1: Leather satchel with two side pockets that can be sealed with a buckle, and two larger front pockets, one which can zip up. Strap can be adjusted in length with 5 holes to adjust the buckle. One key for 6585.2 inside the bag, one on the strap.
Good condition, some marks and scratches to leather.

6585.2: Portable microscope by Swift & Son. Box is fitted with accessories including slide-making set, scalpel, tweezers, brush, pencil, clippers, brown glass dropper bottle, magnifying glass and stick. Lockable (box does not shut unless locked); two keys - one is attached to keyring on the left side of strap of bag, one is inside the bag.
Good/fair condition. Some scratches to box, microscope is tarnished with some condition, as are the items inside the box.

6585.3: Slide making set. Wooden box, contains unused slides, separated by tissue, and strips of blue paper. Lid is lined with green felt. Seals with metal clip.
Good condition.

6585.4: Box of spare slides. 76x26mm, 0.8-1.0mm deep. White cardboard box labelled ‘2951B/76x26/0.8-1.0mm 50PCS’.

6585.5: Box of spare cavity slides. 76x26mm, 1.0-1.2mm deep. White cardboard box. White cardboard box labelled ‘2951B/76x26/0.8-1.0mm 50PCS’.

6585.6: Glass bottle filled with milky white liquid. White plastic lid.
Good condition.

6585.7: Glass bottle half full of Canada Balsam substitute ‘Numount’; contents have solidified. Black plastic lid. Label reads: ‘Brunel Micro Ltd. NUMOUNT Canada Balsam Substitute’.
Good condition.

6585.8: Empty glass bottle, no lid. Has plain label on side.
Good condition.

6585.9: Parabolic light reflector (?)
Good condition.

6585.10: Map of Cornwall. Bartholemew’s Revised ‘Half-Inch’ Contoured Maps. Canvas backed. Published by Edinburgh Geographical Institute, 1959
Good/fair condition. Canvas is fraying slightly in places, folds of map feel slightly fragile - holes in where folds cross.

Good condition.
