Description Notes
Uncut printed gores and information sheets for assembly of a children’s educational globe and orrery, by Benjamin Tena, Spanish, c. 1900.
Colour printed sheet showing gores used on the inside of a globe made by Benjamin Tena. The gores match the interior of the top half of the object no. 5892, a globe made by Tena. Potentially this sheet is a part of a series of 4+ sheets that would match all interior and exterior facets of the globe and were perhaps intended to be cut up and assembled (by children?). There is no indication of this other than the shape of the gores.
In addition to displaying the gores, there are also 9 boxes containing information. These boxes have the colours and stripes of the Spanish flag as the background, and on object 5892 are used on the interior circumference of the globe. There are 8 more boxes containing information above the 9; the text is upside down. There are also two sets of 8 celestial bodies and a circular calendar, featuring the days, months, seasons and signs of the zodiac, used to create the orrery.
Good condition, some wearing around the edges. Complete.
