Globe of Mars, produced by Louis Niesten after own map and nomenclature of Schiaparelli and Green, made by J. Lebeque & Co., Belgian, 1892.
Globe with 12 gores and two small polar caps. Made after Neisten’s observations at Brussels in 1877 and also in Milan. Includes nomenclature from Giovanni Schiaparelli and Nathan Green’s observations. Gores are lithographically printed in black, red and blue ink. Globe mounted at 23o. Very rudimentary stand, which is not original.
This is the third mass-produced globe of the planet Mars (preceded by Hans Busk, 1873, and Camille Flammarion, 1884).

Description
This early globe of Mars, made in 1892 after Louis Neisten’s 1877 observations of Mars in Paris and Milan, is only the third produced globe of Mars. It uses nomenclature from observations made by Giovanni Schiaperelli and Nathan Green.
