Description Notes

Pyrometer, Watkins and Hill, English, 1 1/2 19th century

Brass pyrometer in wooden fitted box, both by Watkins and Hill Opticians. Brass back plate with two attachments. One attachment fixed with two screws, the height of which can be raised or lowered. Other attachment fixed at top by screw; this can be pivoted from that point and is engraved with the makers' name: "Watkins & Hill. Charing Cross, London". There is a second arm that is fitted with a spring mechanism. At the bottom of this attachment is a scale from 30o - 0o, with 1o, 5o and 0.3o intervals, and at the bottom of the arm is an additional small 0o - 20o scale, with intervals of 5o and 1o. As the arm is moved, the scale moves along the larger attachment.

Pyrometer comes with fitted wooden box with two hook closures and hinged lid.

In good condition, complete.
