Everard gauger's slide rule, English, c. 1824

Four-slide wooden Everard Gauger's slide rule. With gauge marks for the pre-1824 Winchester ale and wine gallons, but without verjuice points. With additional inlaid brass gauge marks inserted for the Imperial Gallon (227 cubic inches). Below the third slide, 'F.E. Dash I.R. Lancaster 1894. Nantwich 1898. Ulverston 1901. Warrington 1909. 227:1934' [the final seven numbers are less legible as have been pressed over]. According to the seller, 'F.E. Dash' refers to Excise Officer Frederick E. Dash, and 'I.R.' stands for Inland Revenue. Comes with hard leather case inscribed with 'F.E. Dash'.
