Description Notes

Compound microscope, "Student" type, by Beck, England, c. 1930

Base is rectangular, with swinging plane mirror in a gimbal attached to it, illuminating the stage from below. Stage is square, with two metal clips for slides, and is attached to a (smooth, not toothed) rack and pinion that can be raised and lowered with two metal knobs on either side of pillar's base. At base of body tube there is a rotating turret with three objective lenses, labelled 3.5x, 8x and 20x; another objective lens at the top of the body tube, in black, is removable and is labelled 10x.

Maker is likely R & J Beck, though I was unable to find any record of a name change.

Condition: good, complete
