13.5-inch lunar (moon) globe, by Lipsky, Russian, 1967.

Plastic globe with printed paper gores. Longitude marked at every 10o; latitude at every 10o. Elevation of surface represented by colour. Major regions and features are named. Lack of precision in the gluing of gores: edges of gores do not quite match up.

Diameter 13.5 inches (34 mm). Scale 1:10,000,000. On plastic stand.

Based on photographs produced by Luna-3, Zond-3, and NASA Orbiters, this globe covers 95% of the lunar surface.

This Russian globe was produced using images from the unmanned spacecraft Luna 3 (1959), Zond 3 (1964), and NASA Lunar Orbiters (1966–67). It covers 95% of the moon’s surface, with regions and crators marked in cyrillic script.
