The station was situated in the grounds of the Church of St. Mary the Great until it was transferred to the Whipple in March 2008. The instruments themselves had been transferred on 8/11/2007.

Barometric and temperature recorder, by Cambridge Instrument Company, in plinth, formerly a meteorological measuring station used by Cambridge City Council from 1908 until the 1990s.

The station was situated in the grounds of the Church of St. Mary the Great until it was transferred to the Whipple in March 2008. The instruments themselves had been transferred on 8/11/2007.

Metal plinth with stone pillar on concrete base. Plinth has three perspex windows, plus a back panel made of steel that can be removed (secured with lock) to allow access to inside of plinth.

Inside of plinth sits two instruments, a clockwork barometric recorder and a clockwork temperature recorder, both of which can record a weeks worth of pressure and temperature data.

Both instruments are still in full working order.
